Grigor Boykov
In his ERC funded project OttomanCORE, Grigor Boykov and his team seek to transform our understanding of how the Ottoman Empire was formed and governed during its formative period (14th–16th centuries). Challenging conventional views of Ottoman rule as a centralized and patrimonial system, Grigor Boykov and his team will employ a regional and actor-focused perspective to examine governance practices at the local level. Utilizing cutting-edge digital methods, including automated data extraction from Ottoman documents, the project seeks to deconstruct the fundamental components of power in pre-modern agrarian societies.
